Vishnupur Gharana is an age-old Hindustani Classical Gharana which originated nearly two hundred and fifty years back. Vishnupur is a small town of Bankura District of West Bengal. During the period of Malla dynasty this Gharana Was founded by Acharya Ramshankar Bandopadhyay. Inspite of the evolution of time, Vishnupur Gharana has still retained its glory and the performers of this Gharana have modulated themselves with the flow of time. In this CD "Parampara Vishnupur" the eminent family of Bandopadhyay are carrying the traditional style for five generations. Commencing from the third to the sixth generation of Vishnupur Gharana are Sangeetacharya Gopeshwar Bandopadhyay, Acharya Satyakinkar Bandopadhyay, Sangeetacharya Amiya Ranjan Bandopadhyay and Pandit Santanu Bandopadhyay are the valuable contents of this album.
