The fifth solo studio album by Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr, Ringo's Rotogravure was released in 1976. It would be his last album to feature involvement by all the former Beatles prior to John Lennon's untimely death in 1980.
Following his tried-and-true formula of using songs written by friends and having these same musicians play on the album, Ringo's Rotogravure features appearances by Eric Clapton, Harry Nilsson, along with Peter Frampton, Melissa Manchester, Dr. John, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison.
Harrison contributed a song known as "When Every Song Is Sung," but due to prior commitments, was unable to actually perform on the album. McCartney and wife, Linda, made the backing track to "Pure Gold" and got Starr to sing over. Eric Clapton played guitar on "This Be Called a Song."
As always, this '70s classic album has been impeccably remastered by Friday Music's Joe Reagoso. The reissue is pressed on 180g clear green vinyl.
