The book gives detailed step by step process of batik art in a simple language. Beginners and even those who know nothing of the art can begin batik printing by reading this book. Batik is an Indonesian word derived from 'titik' or 'tik' which means a drop or a little bit. Tiny drops of molten wax are used on the design to resist the dye.
The rare art of batik needs a lot of patience and effort. Two methods which the author herself uses, are explained in the book. The first is an easy method in which dyes are easily available in the market and can be used. In the second method acids are used. Acids make the batik more attractive and brighter but they have to be handled carefully. The book illustrates the method and gives the finished product photos in colour.
