“One of the great regrets of Holmes’s life in the later years was,” according to Carl Voss the biographer of the Minister, “his inability to locate the correspondence between Mahatma Gandhi and himself, for the twenty – five years’ exchange of letters vanished during the many transitions of the Community Church officers from one location to another in the 1920’s, ‘30s and ‘40s. Those precious letters may be extant somewhere, but to the present time they have not appeared.
