This is the centenary of Satyagraha in South Africa. To commemorate this occasion, we are bringing out a special edition of the twin-books of Mahatma Gandhi. The first one, Satyagraha in South Africa was first published in 1924. It is a complete account of Satyagraha struggle of the Indians in South Africa written by the Gandhii who conducted it. It was the first attempt to apply the principle of Satyagraha to public life on a large scale. From the book the reader will get an ea of its development. It is placed on the list of books that have changed the world. The second book, An Autobiography or the Story of My Experiments with Truth was first published in 1927. It has undergone several reprints in India, USA and England. Its translations are available in all major world languages. It has reached the status of all-time best seller. It also contains the story of Satyagraha in South Africa but in different context, in the context of Gandhiji’s experiments with truth. Both the books are complementary to each other. In the words of Gandhiji, it needs hardly mention, that those who are going through the chapters of My Experiments with Truth cannot afford to miss the chapters of Satyagraha in South Africa. We are sure that curious readers and students of Gandhian thought will like to preserve these twin – books in their personal collection.
